Day 6

A Valentine's Day Trip to the Vet

Bella Cat had her annual physical this morning.  Dr. Barb of Aztec Animal Clinic gave her a clean bill of health.  The health applications for wearable tech are in legion.  It was handy just to photo-document Bella's check-up.

Then it was time to pick up Mom at the Woodmark for her first outing since she was discharged from Advanced Health Care rehab.  The Woodmark was all decked up for the holiday,

as was the Pacific Paradise where we noshed on seafood (shrimp, salmon, soft-shelled crab).

Back at her apartment, we took care of flowers, cards, and the calendar for the week ahead.

All in all, I wore Glass continuously today until 7:30 when we hit the jacuzzi.  The only ergonomic problem is getting my right hearing aid to coexist with the device.  More later (see below).

Saturday addendum:   Friday was a busy day and Valentine activities precluded a lengthy report at the time.  I should mention that due to the workable sunglass-over-Rx-lenses solution combined with being away from the computer most of the day, this was the first time when I've worn Glass for the entire day.  It was very successful--I took 18 photos, 2 videos, used the Glass navigation app, and took an Evernote note or two.

Besides being able to photo-document a veterinarian appointment and Valentine's Day lunch with Mom, it came in handy when we spotted some suspicious activity at a neighbor's house.  An unmarked van and 4 men were entering a residence up the street.  Out of an abundance of concern, I used Evernote to record the license number of the van and took a quick picture of the vehicle.  It turned out to be innocuous, but it was nice to be able to use Glass in this way.  I suppose a smartphone could've captured the same information, but this was quick, convenient, and safely discreet.

A final note from Friday:  Voice search is often handy, but there needs to be a command to enter "letter-by-letter spelling mode."  No matter how I enunciated the words, Glass never was able to do a Google search for myself.  "Karl Horak" always came back with some variant of "Carl Horrocks."  The Evernote note of a license number did initially display "Kay See Jay 123", but changed it to "kcj 123" (not the real license number).

Here endth my catechism.
